Migration: From Poland to Germany 1
I am from Dobieszowice, a small village in Poland.
When you think of it, it is quite nice there. But in Poland we could not
even have a fracture of the life we have here.
Like it is with most families, we came to Germany
for the better life here, for the better opportunities in all fields.
As regards jobs, for example, there are better training facilities here,
a greater choice and, what is important to my mother, better salaries
and the possibility of keeping a job for a longer period. In addition,
here you need not buy a flat after a few years to keep living in it. In
Poland we had no money for our own flat, and not enough money to move,
either.
My mother did not mind coming here. After all, some
relatives were already here. And the rest of the family, those that we
left behind, supported and encouraged us. "Think of the children.
Over there they have better opportunities in education and in working!"
Language was the biggest problem. It did not take
long, and I was able to communicate. Many of my friends had the same problem;
that is probably why we got along well together from the start.
When I asked my mother whether she regretted the move,
she answered thoughtfully, "No, on the contrary. If I had to decide
again, I would do the same."
